Suzuki New Ertiga Diesel Hybrid MT - Indonesia

The newest automobile trend in Indonesia is 7 seater MPV. Even they try to put the 6th and 7th seater on SUV like Nissan Xtrail, new Honda CRV. Why? because Indonesian really like something big. Bigger is better. Indonesian consumer is a family people. They like being together. Another thing, is the fuel efficient. So the dream car here is a Stylish, Cheap, Fuel Efficient, 7 seater, Powerful, Easy to Maintain, High Tech. hahaha...

Suzuki already have the fuel efficient car, Ertiga gasoline with FC around 17km per liter, not bad at all. But Suzuki want to offer more to their loyal customer. The hybrid diesel car.

Offering better fuel efficiency up to 22.6 Km per liter, this is the most economical 7 seater MPV ever. But not so fast, this car can only consume good grade solar with specific cetane number. And the price different from common solar is around IDR 3000 per liter ( USD 0.25 ). What make this car can be so efficient is the technology inside the Ertiga. The Hybrid Technology.
Suzuki claim the torque is so big, up to 200 Nm at 1750 rpm, but based on the test drive, this big torque released at above 2000 rpm. Well, still not bad.

 Suzuki put the Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) to support the new Idle Start/Stop System. The engine will off when the car stop completely, and re start again when we push the clutch pedal. We an deactivated this feature with a single button. Ertiga also have the Torque Assist Function to make sure you got the torque at all rpm.
The engine is 1300cc diesel, with Direct Injection, Double over head camshaft, and Hybrid tech SHVS. This engine is quite small, compared to old diesel engine from other manufacturer. Adding the Electric motor and 70 Ampere Battery, makes the Ertiga more efficient and powerful when accelerating. When the car deccelerating, ISG will change the energy to power, this power then will used when accelerating and when restart the engine after Idle Start/Stop System doing its job.
This car is CBU from India. As you know Indonesia is a tropical area, and never need the heater inside your car. But this Ertiga still have the heater feature. The new feature in Lower MPV is gear shift indicator that can give recommendation when the best timing to switch the gear to get the most efficient driving.
 At this moment, Ertiga diesel only available in Manual Transmission. Might be Suzuki haven't invent the best automatic transmission that can delivered the diesel power but still maintain the economical factor yet.

Maximum output 89ps at 4000 rpm is good compare to old diesel engine, only got around 65ps with 2500 cc engine.

Overall exterior is the same with old Ertiga gasoline. Ertiga still apply 15inches rims, with 5 bolts, while other LMPV still using 4 bolts.

If your daily mobility is quite far, around 100 to 200 km per day, and you want a powerful diesel car, very efficient, maintain the green environment factor by using good grade of diesel fuel, you want 7 seater car, and don't mind with manual transmission. Ertiga diesel hybrid might be suitable for you, it will cost around IDR 220 Million on the road Jakarta ( USD 16,550 ).
